rainy day

I am feeling pretty intimidated by my new camera. It is so much more complicated than my 7 year old point and shoot:) I am slowly figuring out what all of the little knobs and buttons do and it is all starting to come together and make a little bit of sense.

I had big plans today to get outside to practice with my new camera and take some OOTD shots, but the rain ruined it. Living in Portland, I am used to the rain, but today, the weather was a little more extreme than usual (lots of wind, really heavy rain, etc.). So, these are some indoor shots captured with our regular point and shoot.

Top: Anthropologie
Jacket: Anthropologie (Cloaked in Roses)
Jeans: Joe's via Anthropoloige
Shoes: Dansko

I hope you all had a great weekend!

  2. Sorry about the rain :( But you got some nice pictures #2 is my favorite! I love the statue outside and your reflection on the glass. And your top is so delicate. I love all of the intricate lace and the color is lovely. If you ask me you did great! Love your pictures. I am so intimidated by cameras :/ Don't know why. But you go Miss Kristin. Happy to see you! <3

  3. Wow, it is hard to tell these pictures are from a point and shoot. I especially like the first one. Lighting is just perfect! I can't wait to see with your new camera in action. What a beautiful and romantic jacket too. You look fantastic!

  4. Oh yeh, SLRs can be a bit daunting - i'm still figuring out ours! Sometimes point and shoot cameras capture the images just as good as an SLR. Honestly, i couldn't tell thses were point and shoot.

  5. Ah Kristin! The fabulous Cloaked In Roses. A soft, comfy sweatshirt with a lace overlay. I picked mine up as a catalog Pop-Back. Bought a Gold Corduroy skirt to wear with it. You have reminded me that I still haven't worn the skirt with the Jacket.

I don't blame you about the camera. It looks intimidating in your previous Post. I'm using a point and shoot. But occasionally I wish for something more.

The rain and wind adds drama to your images. You could grab an umbrella and brave the storm for the sake of blog and the bees.

  7. The rain is a pain right? I can't believe how much it's been coming down lately. My shoot had to be cancelled this weekend too!!

But anyway...congrats on your new camera!!!! I'm so glad you got it and I can't wait to see your pics. Don't get intimidated...pics are free!!! Just go and practice! Good luck!

  9. These are really beautiful shots! It looks like you're learning really quickly. I'd love to be able to take shots like this, I need to practice. Do you take them all yourself with a tripod or do you have somebody take them for you?

  10. Let think about it this way, atleast today you get the challenge to practice with interior shots right? Don't worry it's in your hands now, so once the sun shines you will be able to get so many beautiful shots with the newly watered vegetation! :) Can't ask for more, other than that super cuteeee jacket that you are wearing!

  11. Dina - Thank you:)

Hi Gabby! Thank you (for your sweet compliments and for noticing the statue:). Isn't this top great? It is so pretty on the outside yet so warm and cozy on the inside.

Inkmark - Thanks! I can't wait to show off some pics taken with my new camera!

Vintageglammz - Thanks:) That is true - so much of the picture is about the lighting and composure.

Laura - You better wear yours before it gets too warm! An umbrella is a good idea. I think Sunday was a little too wet/windy for that kind of thing, but I should definitely try it in the future. Thanks!

    Betty Ray - Thank you!

Cindi - You are absolutely right. Thanks for the encouragement!

Minnesota Maven - Thanks! Definitely my favorite pants right now. I love Joe's jeans!

Mich - Thank you! My guy (Ben) takes all of the shots. We are lucky because we have a lot of great photo locations near my office and our house (lots of cool old buildings, parks, etc.). We are definitely just beginning to learn this kind of thing, but he really has a knack for it (and he enjoys it).

    Midory - Very true!

  12. I've been craving a digital SLR camera lately, but I'm almost too intimidated to buy one! Oh goodness. I'm sure once you start playing around with it, you'll find your picture-taking groove. As for these photos, I think they're lovely! Indoor shots are always tricky, especially with a point-and-shoot.

  14. Christy - It is definitely a very intimidating process. I did quite a bit of research, so I felt comfortable with my purchase, now I just have to figure out how to use it!

Shauntelle - Thank you so much!
