OOTD and anniversary celebration

Hope you all are enjoying the weekend!  This is a recent OOTD featuring a maternity dress I got from Shabby Apple.  I won a Shabby Apple gift card many months ago and couldn't decide what to spend it on.  Once I found out I was pregnant, I decided that this would be a great, versatile dress to have.  So far, so good!  It is comfy, light weight (which is great because I'm always hot), and has plenty of room for my belly.  I love the sleeve length because it covers my tattoo, so I don't have to wear a cardigan over it to the office.  The neck tie ads a little something, so it's not just a boring black dress.

Tights:  Assests maternity tights

Ben and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary earlier this month.  We kept things low key and ended up having a wonderful day together.  We spent the morning at the pumpkin patch (my favorite!), then we took a little day trip to Mount St. Helens to explore a bit and have a picnic.  Here are a few pictures from our day.

Pregnancy update: end of second trimester

How far along: 27 weeks

Development: According to The Bump, baby is the size of a Rutabaga. He can open and close his eyelids and now weighs around 2 pounds.

Symptoms: Tired, sore, achy. It's becoming hard to get comfortable at night and I wake up pretty much every day with sore hips and overall stiffness.

Maternity clothes: I am pretty much exclusively in maternity clothes at this point. As you saw in my last OOTD, a couple of my regular maxi dresses still fit, and I have 1 or 2 other regular dresses that are still working. Other than that, it's all maternity.

Stretch marks: Not yet.

Sleep: Overall, not the best, but it varies. Some nights I sleep like a rock and other nights it feels like I'm constantly tossing and turning.

Best moment of this week: I woke up in the middle of the night last night because baby had the hiccups! Middle of the night timing was a little annoying, but I don't care because it was so cool!

Miss anything: Not really. Maybe caesar dressing a little (the real kind, which contains raw eggs!).

Movement: Yes, lots of it!  He moves quite a bit throughout the day, but he is typically very active after dinner and before bed.  I also feel him quite a bit during the night when I get up for a bathroom run.  At my last midwife appointment, she was able to feel his positioning (head down at this point), so I like to try to guess if movements/jabs are feet or  hands or butt, etc. but I really can't tell.

Food cravings: Orange juice!  I can't get enough.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!

Have you started to show yet: Oh yes.  There is no hiding my bump at this point.

Gender: Boy!!

Labor signs: No, too early. I did have 36 hours of very consistent braxton hicks contractions a couple of weeks ago.  I tried everything my midwife suggested (rest/hydrate/bath/etc.) but they continued.  I had to go get checked out (everything was fine) and was given an herb to take to help things relax.  It worked and the contractions stopped.  I wasn't too concerned as my midwife kept me calm and told me that the contractions weren't "doing anything" at that point.  It was a bit stressful and exhausting though.  I guess the actual diagnosis is "irritable uterus" which kind of makes me laugh.  All is well now.

Belly button in or out: Still in, but barely.

Wedding rings on or off: On

Happy or moody most of the time: Mostly good, but I definitely have more emotional and/or frustrated moments.

Looking forward to: Every single thing!  The nursery is slowly coming together, my friend is throwing me a little shower/celebration in early December, our childbirth class is well underway, and it feels like things are moving really fast.  Only 3 more months!

Double up

I love my Empire Day Dress in black (see here and here), and it still fits well at 6 1/2 months pregnant, so I picked up the blue version a few weeks ago (and I see that it is now marked down to $29.99!).  To make it a little more fall appropriate, I added a scarf and cardigan.

Now I'm headed back to work for a quick appointment.  Of course the patient I need to meet with today is scheduled at 7:00pm, when 99% of the time, appointments are between 8:00 and 4:00.  Ugh.  I don't like this coming home, getting settled, then having to head back out business.  At least it will be quick and I'm pretty sure I can justify leaving early tomorrow now:)

My Sunday

After being down for a couple of days with another cold (the second one I've had in the past month), I woke up today feeling a bit better.  The sun was shining and it was a beautiful fall day!  Ben and I went out for a late brunch, stopped by a fabric store and a craft store, then came home and worked on a little nursery decor project.  We also took the dogs for long walks, checked in on the bees (I will do a proper update on them soon), and enjoyed some apple crisp I made last night.  All in all, a lovely fall day.

Jeans:  Gap maternity
Top:  Orla Keily via Uniqlo (I think this was originally a dress which ended up being way too short for me, but is now a perfect maternity "tunic")!
Shoes:  Born
Bracelet:  Gift
Hair clip:  Anthropologie Critter Gem Bobbies

Staple guns are awesome!
