Burnout Lace

Oh how I love lazy Sundays!  I started my day off with a relaxing acupuncture session and now I am on the couch,  enjoying a Call the Midwife marathon.  I'm only 4 episodes in, but I think I found a new favorite show to obsess over!  This paleo dish is in the oven and smelling delicious.

This outfit is from last week.  This skirt has been on my wishlist since it popped up on the website.  I somehow missed it when it went on sale, but that turned out to be a good thing, because I was able to find it on 2nd cut.  I love the color and print - it's quite comfy too.  I think it's going to be a great piece for my work wardrobe.

2012 Recap #2: Purchases

To follow up on my post from yesterday (2012 favorite outfits), here are 5 of my favorite 2012 purchases.  I'm not 100%  confident is saying that these are my absolute top 5 purchases of the year, but they are 5 of my favorites:)  It is really hard to narrow it down!  I keep thinking of other pieces that I have gotten more wear out of or ones that are more versatile, but for whatever reason, here's my list!

Camper 21514-001 Mary Jane Pump - Original post here.

Who's That Girl dress - purchased in Paris - Original post here.

J. Crew Perfect Shirt in Chambray Polka Dot - original post here, top also featured here and here.

Chie Mihara Olivan (technically not a purchase, these  were a birthday gift from Ben, but they still have a place on my favorites list:) - original post here.

Ruffled Trench Coat from Anthropologie - original post here.

Honorable mentions:

Liamolly Blazer (post here), J. Crew Peter Pan Collar Tee (post here),  Anthropologie Tiered Ruffles Open Cardigan (post here), Gray Dress, J. Crew Clearance Store find (post here).

Gray

I raced home from work today, hoping to catch a little sunlight so that I could get some decent OOTD shots.  Unfortunately, I didn't make it in time.  About half way home, I realized I was missing the last of the good light.  Indoor/kitchen photos it is!  The sun set at 4:30pm.  Crazy, right?  Gotta love PNW winters!

This dress is one of my J. Crew Clearance Store finds (as is the belt).  I think this is my favorite item from my  latest clearance store run.  I will have to take better photos of it soon because these really don't do it justice.  It is beautifully cut and ever so cozy:)

Sunset

I hope you all enjoyed the weekend!  Mine was very productive (lots of laundry/ironing, organizing, cleaning, dog walks, grocery shopping, yoga, etc.).  Friday after work, we had a picnic outside and watched the sunset with friends.  It was stunning.  I'm so excited and ready for fall, but it's also a little bit sad to say goodbye to summer (especially around here, because I know that the rain is on its way!).

Here is an outfit from last week.  I think it may be a repeat, but I'm okay with that:)  The cost-per-wear of the skirt has got to be down to pennies at this point.

Shopping in Paris

I did quite a bit of window shopping in Paris.  I only purchased a couple of things, but it was fun to browse and see what the shops there had to offer.  I ended up not buying much because the prices there were higher to begin with, and the exchange rate did not help matters at all.  A lot of the things I wanted, I knew I could find online for cheaper.

Let's start with what I did buy!  I found this dress at a little shop we stumbled across while walking to the  Sacré-Coeur.  I found 2 things in the shop that I wanted to try on - this dress and pencil skirt that I didn't end up getting.  Both were from the same brand, "Who's That Girl".

I wore this dress yesterday for the first time and I have to say, I love it!  It's a great dress for summer and I think the buttons really make the dress interesting.

Dress:  Who's That Girl
Shoes:  All Black via Anthropologie
Bag:  Hue

The other thing I purchased was this ring.  I came across it at the Clignancourt flea market.  I paid for it, put it on and it hasn't come off since!

Now, let's take a look at some things I DID NOT buy.  Shoes, shoes, shoes!

I saw so many adorable pairs of Campers, including this cool pair of twins with an underwater scene (can be purchased from endless here)

I also spent quite a bit of time drooling over some gorgeous Chie Mihara shoes.  It was nice to go to a shop with a decent selection of Chie's that I could look at IRL and daydream about:)

I recognized the Edelia, Nabila, and Guarana styles.  The Guarana can be purchased from Ped Shoes (my favorite online store for Chie Mihara shoes!) in a different color and on sale.

It's all about the shoes

I am so happy that the weekend is here! It has been a long week. I started the day on Tuesday by finding lots of fraudulent charges posted to my bank account. Someone spent large sums of my money at different gas stations in Texas. Of course, my bank refunded the money and is taking care of everything. It's just a pain in the ass to call customer service, close my account, wait for a new debit card, etc. My day pretty much went downhill from there. Work was terrible and I was in tears by the time I got home. Luckily, I had to take an all-day CPR class on Wednesday, so I got a much needed break from the office. Things have blown over a bit and I'm looking forward to a (hopefully) better/easier/not-so-shitty week next week:)

This is the coat that Ben got me for Christmas. It's from a local clothing company called Nau. It is extremely light weight and so, so warm. Love it!

I'm on a roll with wearing my favorites from last year. The Bianca blouse goes with just about everything and I love the ruffles around the collar/sleeves.

There is nothing like a new pair of shoes to help you get over a tough week! These are the Camper 21514 Mary Jane Pumps. I found them on amazon for a steal (original price $180, down to $81.50 plus I had a gift card. Here they are). Ben actually introduced me to Campers when we first met, almost 9 years ago. He showed up to my apartment looking oh so European and cool with his camper shoes on:)

I'm off to go enjoy drinks and burgers at Dick's Kitchen. Hope you are enjoying this beautiful weekend!
