It's a..........

A couple of weeks ago we had a BBQ/sex reveal party.  Instead of having my midwife tell me the sex over the phone, I forced myself to wait (it was tough!), so that Ben and I could find out together, along with some of our closest friends.

One of my friends owns a coffee shop and her mom is the pastry chef there.  She had her mom call my midwife to find out the sex and then she made the cake for us (which of course either had blue or pink icing on the inside to indicate boy or girl).  So no one at the party knew the sex ahead of time.  We all gathered, talked, mingled, ate, and stared at the cake.  The anticipation was too much!  Finally, as we were waiting on some people to finish eating, we set a timer and let everyone know that we would cut the cake as soon as the timer went off, no matter what!  That forced people to pick up the pace and we got the BBQ/eating over with:)

As soon as the timer went off, we asked everyone to make a guess.  Almost everyone at the party guessed girl.  I think there were only 2 people (including Ben) that guessed boy.  Ben and I each got a knife and cut into the cake at the same time.  I was so nervous and excited!  I'll let the pictures do the talking from here.

Yep, we are having a boy!  We are over the moon excited!!!!

Baby W, arriving in January 2014!!!

I am so excited to let you guys in on my little secret (and the reason I've been MIA quite a bit over the past couple of months)!  Ben and I are ecstatic.  I can't believe I'm going to be a mom!  It was a long journey for us to get to this point, which I will share more of later.  For now, I am taking it all in, every joyful, magical, terrifying moment.

Sex reveal is coming up next......care to make a guess?

Summer Pears

Here is a quick OOTD from a week or two ago.  I found this top at the J. Crew clearance store a few years ago.  I love it - it's perfect for summer.  You can't really tell from these photos (and unfortunately my camera died after only a few shots), but the print is tiny little pears.

I hope you guys are enjoying the summer!

New ipad case and another batch of macarons

I received a new ipad case a couple of months ago courtesy of caseable (Thanks, caseable!).  I was able to fully customize the case using my own photos.  Their website is easy to use, they use recycled materials for all of their cases, and the final product is great!  They offer customized cases for all sorts of devices (ipads, iphone, e-readers, etc.).

I decided to use a couple of my favorite photos from our Paris honeymoon for the case. Ben used to work in the design/printing industry and he was very skeptical about how the case would turn out (just because printing photos on items like this usually look really weird or "off").  Once I received it,  we were both very pleasantly surprised.   The quality is fantastic and I love the way it looks.  I've used it for a couple of months now, and I am very happy with it.  I love that there is a pocket on the inside and I appreciated being able to choose the color of the spine.  I definitely recommend caseable and I have my eye on a new iphone case:)  My only complaint is that I wish you could choose a different color for the inside.  I feel like white will get dirty easily.

Since my case has macarons all over it, I thought this would be a good time to show off my latest batch of macarons.  I had the day off for the 4th and I decided to do some baking.  I must have been in the mood for lemons because I made lemon cupcakes and lemon macarons.  I think this was my best batch yet.  Maybe I am finally getting it!
