Snowpocalypse

I woke up this morning to a whopping 1 inch of snow!!! Normally, this would not be a big deal. However, if you live in Portland, it is a HUGE deal! I left for work early thinking that traffic would be a nightmare, but it was quite the opposite. There were barely any cars on the road at all. I guess everyone decided to play it safe and just stay home. FedEx even got in on the excitement! Yesterday (that's when this gigantic storm was supposed to start), the FedEx driver that picks up/drops off at my office came in and said that they would not be able to do any pick-ups after 2:00pm. Why? Because the FedEx plane was leaving early from the airport in preparation for the "storm".

Coat: J. Crew
Top: J. Crew
Cardigan: J. Crew (Jackie:)
Pants: Anthropologie
Shoes: Dansko
Necklace: Found at a local consignment shop (It may be a little too reminiscent of an Easter egg, but I like it anyways. Easter is actually coming up fairly soon, so I guess it's appropriate.)

I also have to tell you about a great deal I found today! I have been stalking the Pins and Needles Pleated Knee-length Skirt from UO ever since seeing it on Sara from You, Me & Anthropologie (here it is on her).

It's been in my cart for a while, but I have been hesitant to order, just because I have never ordered anything from UO, I didn't know if it would fit me, and I didn't want to pay the $10 shipping. Online, the skirt is currently $59.00. I was looking at it again this morning, and I almost went for it and checked out. Then I thought that maybe I should just go to the B&M (which is actually very close to my office) to see if they had any in stock so that I could try it on before buying it. So, that is what I did on my lunch break (parking was very easy, thanks to all of this snow we got:). I looked around, but didn't see the skirt. I asked one of the SA and she said that if they had any left, they would be in the sale section (Sale????). Low and behold there were a few left. I found my size, it fit nicely, and it was only $19.99!!!

  1. Oh man...we got about 3 or 4 inches today in parts of Seattle and it was crazy coming home. I think I almost got stuck but it only took us 1.5 hours to go 13 miles. Not bad!

  2. Congrats! on your find! that's sweet. I am so unlucky that way. I NEVER make killer finds. ANYWAY, that is so beautiful....Snow :) Shoot. We only got sleet and we shut down the whole city! We are Pansy's here in TEXAS.You are brave woman! But you also look adorable as always. I love the Jackie cardigan color. Looks so pretty against the black and looks great with the snow in the background love it! Congrats on the find. You have a safe and happy weekend <3

  3. That darn snow. I wonder what people would do if it snowed the 16 inches it snowed here on Monday! I do love it as a backdrop though, it may be irritating but it sure is beautiful. I also really like your "Easter egg" and didn't at all see that, just a pretty necklave. That turquoise color really pops!

Score on that deal! I've been eying up UO skirts after Sara's post as well, but so unsure as well. I can't wait to see it on you!

  4. First, I love your necklace. I don't think it looks Easterish (is that a word?) at all really. It is just gorgeous! What a great deal on that skirt. I love finding good deals, makes the rest of my day cheerful.

  5. What? One inch of snow in portland causes an uproar? I would have thought you guys got a lot of snow!

PS: That $20 deal on the UO skirt is a big scoop! Seems like a bunch of folks in the blogosphere are ready to pay $60 for it. I can't believe there's such a huge price disparity between online/in-store.

  6. What a good deal! I always love those as if it meant to yours if you know what I mean. I never know Portland doesn't snow much. The forecast calls for snow in SF bay area for this weekend, but I don't think it is going to happen.

  7. Whoa! We got a ton of snow here too. Silly me, I thought it never snows in Portland. I just thought it rained a lot, but no snow period. Just shows you that I live under a BIG rock.
I adore that turquoise necklace and I can't believe you scored that skirt for $19?!????? Whooaaaaaaaaa, what a steal! Can't wait to see you rock it!

  9. Awesome skirt! And that necklace is so cool, I don't see easter egg, I just see shiny o.o

Anyway, funny how a city shuts down over a little bit of snow eh? Apparently SF is in a bit of a thing waiting for their snowfall that might come.

Hope your weekend goes great too :)

  10. Cindi - It sounds like you got quite a bit more than us. 1.5 hours sounds pretty bad, but I guess it could have been worse!

Gabby - Thanks! I can't wait to wear the skirt! I'm from NC where we used to get quite a bit of snow (compared to Portland at least), so this little bit seemed like nothing!

Minnesota Maven - Yes, it is pretty! We did have a pretty big snow storm a couple of years ago (we got about 2 feet). The whole city pretty much shut down for a whole week! It was pretty crazy.

Mommyblogger - Thank you (and yes, I am certain that is a real word:)!

JG - Yes, any type of winter weather causes major issues around here! We do get lots of snow in the surrounding areas (like Mt. Hood), however, it is a very rare occurrence in the city. I was shocked when I found the skirt for that price! Love it when that happens (although the discrepancy is frustrating)!

Terrie - Thanks! The amount of hype over this type of weather is ridiculous sometimes! I will have to check out the rainbow striped flats! I don't regularly shop at UO, but I think I need to stop in a little more often to check the sale racks!

Inkmark - That's exactly how I felt! I had been watching the skirt for so long, wondering if I should get it. Definitely meant to be:)

Hi Lisa! We do mostly get rain, but every once in a while we get a tiny bit of snow! Thanks! I'm excited to wear the skirt:)

Loraine - Yes, it definitely made my day! I was so excited to tell Ben about it when I got home (he didn't seem quite as happy about it as I was)!

Jess - Thanks:) I know a few people in SF that are excited about the potential snow. It does create a hassle, but it's also very pretty. It's nice to have a little bit every now and then!
