night owl

Earlier in the week, one of my friends asked me if I wanted to go the gym with her for a 9:00am class yesterday morning. I reluctantly agreed, thinking that it would be nice to get a workout in first thing, but also thinking about how early 9:00 comes on a Saturday morning. You see, I take my weekend sleep-in opportunities VERY seriously. Still, I thought 9:00 really isn't that bad and I would still get to sleep quite a bit later than I do during the week. So, I thought it would be just fine:) My night owl self was up until 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning, happily browsing the internet, watching a few shows, reading, and cuddling with the dogs. Then, when my alarm went off just a few short hours later, I realized what a terrible mistake I had made (okay, maybe I am being a little too dramatic about this). I rolled out of bed at the last possible minute and ran around like a crazy person trying to find my gym clothes and water bottle. I showed up just in time, looking dazed and feeling groggy. I snapped out of it pretty quickly and actually had a really nice workout. Once it was over, I felt great! However, in the future, I think I will stick to the later classes so that I can really enjoy my sleep.

Here is my post-gym outfit from yesterday:

(I'm practicing the advice that Tara gave in her photo tutorial here, about using props to avoid awkward hands/arms:)

Tee: J. Crew
Tunic: Anthropologie
Jeans: Joe's via Anthropologie
Socks: Sock it to me via Sock Dreams
Shoes: Dansko
Clutch: Anthropologie
Necklace: Botanical Bird

  1. I totally understand what you mean! Night time is the only time we can relax and play so the resistant to go to bed is high. I myself quit my daughter's Sunday Chinese class after the class schedule moved up to 9:30. I want to have at least one day on the weekend to sleep in and Saturday she had a Gym class. I figure I could teach her Chinese myself. Those socks are so cute and

  2. Such a cute outfit! That bag is a perfect match. I hear you about the night owlness. I am a consummate night owl. What better time to shop than 1 in the morning?

  3. I love the gold tones on you and the clutch compliments the outfit so well! You look great for getting up so early (and staying up so late)!

  4. Inkmark - So true. Even when I'm feeling tired earlier in the day, I somehow get a 'second wind' around 11 or 12. I get so much done during that time. A lot of times, I will start cleaning house or doing laundry at midnight. Ben thinks I'm crazy!

    Minnesota Maven - Thanks! Exactly!

    Loraine - Thank you:)

  5. I love the socks. And the handbag too. You know? Someone left me a comment this Am and I accidentally deleted it. I thought it was Lisa, But maybe it was you. I had stayed up till 5 Am This morning.woke up at 11. I couldn't see my phone really well and I hit the delete button instead of publish. I could have sworn it was her. so I sent her an I'm sorry Email. If it was you SORRY :( I couldn't see without my contacts and my stupid Iphone is trigger happy. And I have big fingers for that stupid phone. Anyway, SORRY Kristin. Let me know if it was you. She said no problem so now I don't know whom I deleted! UGH!

  6. those socks are so dang cute! and p/s ~ Gabby del your comment, I thought she meant that she del an older comment of mine. oh gawd, i'm such a doozy! great, now I'm confusing everyone.
and i'm not a morning person either 'coz I'm a night owl too. it's almost 2am and here I am at yours truly's blog, just plugging away at the keyboard.
I adore the mustard top and your bag! Tara really gave some good tips.

  7. OMG! I am sitting here laughing so hard Lisa! I am literally in tears laughing. You are so darn funny, I was worried I had pissed of one or the other. Well Officially It's my fault. Me and my dumb eyeballs and Dumb finger, getting me in trouble. Anyway, Kristin I DELETED THE GYM comment. It's Official. Sorry to you. But I am glad you went to the gym. I wish I could but I can't one because here I am at 2:55 leaving you an apology comment. And 2nd. I'm NOT getting up that early to work on me. But I agree, Like I said before I love your socks. And Lisa if you come back? Thank You for making me laugh SO much! <3 Goodnight guys!

  8. Gabby and Lisa - You girls are too funny! No worries about the deleted comment:) Thanks for the sock compliments! I just love the glasses!

  9. I absolutely LOVE this outfit! The colors are great, and the socks are too cute. Fun socks are so...well, fun. I used to proclaim random days "fun sock day" back in college. I need to bring that back...

  10. Oooh, that clutch is fabulous!!

I've tried the morning gym routine a couple times, and always tell myself, "Never Again". I'm not a morning person, and definitely not on the weekend!

  11. I'm so with you! I am a total night owl as well! I could happily stay awake until 1 or 2 am every night if I could.

  12. AppGal - Thank you! Random "fun sock days" sound great!

Kelly - Thanks:) I ordered it online, and it came broken (the wood was split). I planned on returning it, but never got around to it. I decided to try a little wood glue and it worked! You can't even tell there was ever a problem. I got it for a really good deal, so I'm glad I kept it:)

Clara - same here. Ideally, I would stay up until 2ish every night and sleep in until 10ish every morning. If only:)

  13. hahahahahhaa Kristin you are freaking hillarious!! How you felt to go to the gym is how I feel every single morning going to work!!

    p.s. I need your socks!!

  14. Midory - Oh, I hear you about work. Mondays are sooooo hard! I hate the sound of my alarm!

  15. AHH!! your shoes and bag are just to darling!!! you have great style:)
