night owl

Earlier in the week, one of my friends asked me if I wanted to go the gym with her for a 9:00am class yesterday morning. I reluctantly agreed, thinking that it would be nice to get a workout in first thing, but also thinking about how early 9:00 comes on a Saturday morning. You see, I take my weekend sleep-in opportunities VERY seriously. Still, I thought 9:00 really isn't that bad and I would still get to sleep quite a bit later than I do during the week. So, I thought it would be just fine:) My night owl self was up until 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning, happily browsing the internet, watching a few shows, reading, and cuddling with the dogs. Then, when my alarm went off just a few short hours later, I realized what a terrible mistake I had made (okay, maybe I am being a little too dramatic about this). I rolled out of bed at the last possible minute and ran around like a crazy person trying to find my gym clothes and water bottle. I showed up just in time, looking dazed and feeling groggy. I snapped out of it pretty quickly and actually had a really nice workout. Once it was over, I felt great! However, in the future, I think I will stick to the later classes so that I can really enjoy my sleep.

Here is my post-gym outfit from yesterday:

(I'm practicing the advice that Tara gave in her photo tutorial here, about using props to avoid awkward hands/arms:)

Tunic: Anthropologie

  1. I totally understand what you mean! Night time is the only time we can relax and play so the resistant to go to bed is high. I myself quit my daughter's Sunday Chinese class after the class schedule moved up to 9:30. I want to have at least one day on the weekend to sleep in and Saturday she had a Gym class. I figure I could teach her Chinese myself. Those socks are so cute and

  4. Inkmark - So true. Even when I'm feeling tired earlier in the day, I somehow get a 'second wind' around 11 or 12. I get so much done during that time. A lot of times, I will start cleaning house or doing laundry at midnight. Ben thinks I'm crazy!

    Minnesota Maven - Thanks! Exactly!

    Loraine - Thank you:)

  10. Oooh, that clutch is fabulous!!

I've tried the morning gym routine a couple times, and always tell myself, "Never Again". I'm not a morning person, and definitely not on the weekend!

  12. AppGal - Thank you! Random "fun sock days" sound great!

Kelly - Thanks:) I ordered it online, and it came broken (the wood was split). I planned on returning it, but never got around to it. I decided to try a little wood glue and it worked! You can't even tell there was ever a problem. I got it for a really good deal, so I'm glad I kept it:)

Clara - same here. Ideally, I would stay up until 2ish every night and sleep in until 10ish every morning. If only:)
