My Best Friend

Meet Kya! She has been a part of my life for almost 8 years. I found her when she was only 3 1/2 weeks old. Someone had just dumped her and her siblings off at the shelter. I had never had a dog before, and didn't really know what I was doing, but it felt right. When I laid eyes on her, it was love at first sight! She was the tiniest little thing, but full of life, excitement, and pure joy! The first few weeks were rough - bottle feedings every 4 hours, and a lots of poop! We have been through a lot together, including: chewed up kitchen floors, broken into refrigerators (and food ALL OVER the house), destroyed furniture, a move across the country, many hikes and camping trips, new (and challenging) additions to the family, and the list could go on and on. Kya is sweet, outgoing, bossy, full of personality, needy, demanding, and a bit wild. I love every single ounce of her. We share a bond like I have never experienced before. It is the most wonderful thing! I never imagined a dog could impact my life the way she has/does. To me, it is magical!

Awwwwww! Baby Kya (she was about 6 - 8 weeks old here)!

When I woke up today, the sun was shining! What a nice surprise! It has been cold and rainy recently and that's what I expected today. However, that was not the case - we had lots of sunshine and blue skies! I went to gyrokinesis class first thing, then I came home and picked Kya up (and Ben too!). We walked to our neighborhood coffee shop and hung out for a while. After walking back home, we hopped in the car and went for a drive, went out to lunch, ran some errands, and finally back home again. Kya was so tired, she went straight to bed!

Here is what I wore today:

Top: Anthropologie
Cardigan: Anthropologie
Jeans: Joe's via Anthropologie
Socks: Sock it to me
Shoes: Dansko

Soaking up the sun!

I hope you all are enjoying the weekend!

  2. Kya is a beauty and she sounds like she's full of spunk. How did she break into the fridge?!? Hee-hee, she's like a Harry Houdini dog! It's nice that she got to go along for a ride w. mommy, running errands. Oh, I'm so jealous of your nice weather. I love that shot of you soaking up the sun! I almost felt the sun on my face :)

  3. Awww, I totally feel you.My dogs are my best friends. They are there no matter what. When I'm sad, When I'm Happy, When I cry, When I laugh. They too have done some pretty awful stuff. But I forgive them every time I see those big brown eyes looking it at me. They are loyal and have so much love. Unconditional LOVE. I know some people don't like dogs but, I adore My Toast and My Chloe. Love your post. And I think you look adorable today. Love the green :) I'm glad you and Ben and your baby Kya had a great Saturday! Hugs Kristin

  4. Kya is beautiful and I'm sure your best friend. I too didn't know how strong you could feel for a dog until we rescued ours too. Pure LOVE - even when they make a mess.

Can't get enough of your outfit as well. The socks make it! Great sweater too.

I really like how you paired the green cardigan with the grey shirt (I never know if it's grey or gray). I hope the weather stays!

  6. Sweeet doggie! I may be a cat lady (though our cats are more like dogs anyway) but I do love the sweet adoration of the eternal puppy dog!

  7. Loraine - Thanks! Yes, it was a great day:)

Lisa - Thank you:) She is a handful for sure! I'm not quite sure how she got into the fridge - I think she just worked it open with her nose. I came home to an open fridge, spilled milk, spinach and other vegetable spread all around the house, spinach dip everywhere, etc. etc. etc. She had also eaten all of the eggs. Yes, Whole eggs - 12 of them! It was a huge mess, and all of the food was ruined, but I had to laugh:)

Gabby - Awwww, thanks! I can totally relate to everything you said. It truly is unconditional love and it is amazing:)

Betty Ray - Thank you! Pure love indeed! The socks were part of my Valentine's gift from Ben! Sock it to me has some great designs.

Minnesota Maven - Thanks! Yes, she was a bit of a trouble maker from day one! I love green and gray (or grey) together. Really, I love green with any color!

Thatdamngreendress - Thanks! Yes, those are carrots! I think the shirt is called the Deeply Rooted Henley. I really wanted the beet pattern, but it sold out. I went with carrots instead and I'm happy I did! The top even came with a little packet of carrot seeds!
