Tulip Farm

We took a day trip today to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm in Woodburn, Oregon. It is such a beautiful place! We had a great day - beautiful scenery, great company, happy dogs, and no rain! I learned that tulips come in pretty much every color, except for blue.

I would also like to visit the Skagit Tulip Festival in Washington. It's a 4-hour drive from here, so that may be a little far for a day trip. It's only open during April and their website says that they get hundreds of thousands of visitors, so I imagine it's always crowded. Have any of you ever visited the Skagit festival? Is it worth the long drive?

I love spring ♥

Dress: Anthropologie
Cardigan: Anthropologie Back Porch Blouse
Stockings: Hue
Rain Boots: J. Crew
Necklace: Botanical Bird

Kya's favorite thing at the tulip farm was the mud puddles!

  1. I've been to the skagit tulip festival! That was actually the first time I met my fiance's parents :S. It was really pretty, fields and fields of tulips. The day we went was pretty overcast, so there were not too many people around, it was nice.

Love the combination of the dress and that blouse. It totally pulls double duty as a cardigan eh?

  10. Gabby - Thank you! We had a great time. Kya has been in bed since we got home - she's exhausted from all of the fun! The necklace isn't a locket, but botanical bird does have some really pretty lockets:)

Minnesota Maven - Thanks:) Kya had so much fun! She loved every minute of it, and now she's in bed! She's exhausted from all of the muddin'!

  14. Oh wow, what a love place to visit (and take pics). I love how you paired that top with your cute dress.

I'm guessing pup needed a little bath after that walk.

  15. Oh, I love the tulip farm. That's one very good thing about the Willamette Valley, between the tulip farms, the iris farms, the dahlia farms and the orchards, it seems like it's always blooming.

Gorgeous pictures and a great outfit - I especially love the cardigan. And your dog. I think I love your dog.

  20. Such a perfect spring outfit and gorgeous backdrop with the colorful tulips!

Great choice of footwear, by the way...I have the same pair of boots (which I think you mentioned in one of my posts). Sadly, I'm going to retire them after this season. They are coming apart at the toes and all leaky :( Hopefully yours will last longer than mine did!!

  21. Wow, those photos are gorgeous! I wish we had actual seasons where I live, lol! The two-wheeler looks great with the rain boots!

Love your bike-tastic dress, it's funny 'cause I just posted about Julien David who has all kindsa bike motifs going on as well!

    Cheers!

  26. First of all, love that dress with the rain boots! So adorable! And I used to live in Seattle and so I did go to the Skagit tulip festival a few years ago. Honestly, it looks exactly like the pics you have here so I don't know if it would be worth the drive since you'd only be seeing more of the same. It was gorgeous up there though.

  27. OMG! What a perfect trip- honey, doggie, and TULIPS! They are my favorite flower.

  30. Stylefyles - Thanks! Kay definitely had a ton of fun! Of course she made a huge mess in the process:)

Vintageglammz - Thank you! The boots were definitely necessary! It was quite muddy. I brought other shoes along, but I ended up liking how the rain boots looked anyways.

Laura - Thanks so much! You are right, these pictures are totally reminiscent of the Wye Valley Dress! What a beautiful dress!

Betty Ray - Thanks:) Yes, Kya totally needed a bath after this trip! She was so exhausted when we got home, she went straight to bed (yes, my bed). I didn't have the heart to make her get up for a bath right away, so I ended up with a muddy bed as well!

Gracey - Thank you! The Willamette Valley is definitely a beautiful place. I will have to check out the dahlia farms! Do you have any suggestions?

Mich - Thanks! Yes, the back porch blouse is beautiful and definitely versatile.

Sweet Laundry - Thank you! I bet they do have tulip farms in Canada:) Seems like the weather would be appropriate for tulip growing.

Kelly - Thanks! Yes, I remember seeing these boots on you! Sorry they are coming apart. What a bummer.

Loraine - Thank you! Yes, actual seasons are nice. My favorite is fall, with spring as a close second:)

Sil - Thank you so much!

Megan - Yes, I've been to those outlet malls. I have to say, the tulips are much better! Thanks! I saw your post - those bike motifs are crazy! I love it!

    Bestie - Thank you:)

Carly - Thank you! Kya had so much fun. It was great to watch her run around and get all muddy!

Jessica - Thanks for the sweet comment and for the information. That's kind of what I was wondering - if the Skagit festival was a lot better/bigger than this one. So, thanks for sharing. Are you in Portland now? We should meet up at Anthro:)

Thirteenlbs - Indeed! It was a great day:) Thanks!

Jess - Thank you! I'm really loving the top too. It has proven to be a great piece. Kya is a pretty awesome dog! She means the world to me.

  31. Goodness, I've never seen so many tulips at once! These photos are some of the prettiest I've seen in a while; they just scream spring! And you look really beautiful in the Two-Wheeler Shirtdress; I so wanted it to work on me, but it was not to be. Ah well, I spend too much money at Anthro anyway. ;)

  32. Hi Christy! Thanks! This day trip certainly put me in a springy mood. The two-wheeler is a great dress, but it does have some issues (the tiny arm holes being one of them). Good thing Anthro has a lot of other beautiful options:)

  33. What a gorgeous outfit! I love those two together - what a great pairing!

  34. These pictures brought such a smile to my face. Tulips are some of my favorite flowers, but I've never seen an entire field of them in person. Thank you, thank you, for these awe-inspiring photos!

  36. What a cute dog! He looks like a cuddly bear. The tulips are beautiful! That's one thing I miss about living up north. The tulips would come up out of the snow signaling the start of spring.
The two wheeler dress is something that I have been scouring eBay for quite some time. You wear it well with the lace cardigan.

  37. Yep, total cuddle bear:) Thanks, Kimmie! Keep searching for your two wheeler - you will find it. Have you tried the trade market over at Effortless Anthropologie?
