Vintage Dots

Yesterday was beautiful! Even though it still felt quite cold, we got to enjoy sunshine pretty much all day! That is kind of a big deal in Portland:) I love that every time the sun peeps out, the people of Portland rush outside to enjoy it! Even though it was only about 50 degrees, there were people out everywhere riding bikes, running, walking dogs, playing at the park, etc. Yes, myself included! Ben and I went on a wonderful bike ride! Even though I had to bundle up, it felt awesome being outside in the sun.

For the first part of the day, before changing into bike riding clothes, I decided to wear my new vintage dress that I picked up last weekend. One of the seams on the shoulder is going to require a little stitching up, but otherwise, it is in great condition.

Dress: 1950's vintage via Billy Goat Vintage
Shoes: Seychelles
Belt: Banana Republic
Bracelet: Anthropologie

We went to lunch at DiPrima Dolci Italian Bakery & Cafe. It was very tasty, especially the dessert!

  1. Hey! Even your dessert has dots on it :) That dress is neat, I like how the sleeves have a different pattern/size of dots. Very nice Kristin!

  2. Di Prima is one of my favorite places to eat! My hubby and I were there yesterday. I wonder if we just missed each other. You look fantastic btw. You'll have to tell me where the best vintage shops around Portland cause I'm having not so much luck with it.

  3. You look so lovely- the dress is a great length. I love finding beautiful vintage clothing but where I live we could use more quality -and quantity- vintage shops.

    And that dessert looks scrumptious!

  4. Oh, the sleeves! The sleeves! What a great detail. The maroon accessories are fabulous, too.

  5. It is amazing how everyone gets outside when we get a little sun. It was nice though.

Those sleeves are just perfect. I love this whole look, especially that belt. Perfect.

  6. I love the shape and the multi-sized dots on that dress, and oh man does your dessert look good. I'm a warm weather girl, so below 70 is filed under the category of 'uncomfortable' for me, ha!

  7. I love the dress! It fits into your style aesthetic quite well, plus the fit and flare is great on your shape!

I love the look and idea of a pretty gal in a fantastic dress riding her bike - there's something fresh and spring-like about that to me!

  15. Wow, that dress looks like it was made especially for your bod. Amazing!

  16. Kristin! You have a tattoo on the top of your foot. I guess you knew that. You either have a high tolerance for pain, or you know first hand how bad that steroid injection hurt in my thumb.

Polka Dots become you. You wear Vintage with grace and precision, if that makes sense. Even though I detect hard evidence of an attitude in your Hands-On-Hips poses, it's obvious that your a gal with a gentle side. Maybe even a softy for the right cause. After all, you love bees.

  17. I love the first photo of you. Your stance is powerful! The vintage dress is gorgeous with the different types of polkadots on the sleeves and the main part of the dress. The pops of red are also a lovely addition.

  18. I love how the dot pattern is different on the sleeves. So great!

  19. Oh goodness. I'm in love with this look on you. The first photo of you was amazing. You glasses add just the right amount of authenticity to the outfit!

  20. The mixed polka dot print on this dress is so pretty! and your heels have just the right amount of vintage flair for the dress. I recently found a bright red vintage polka dot dress that I can't wait to wear (just as soon as I remember to take it to the cleaners!).

Andthat cannoli looks delicious. Sort of a polka-dotted dessert, isn't it?

And btw, I love the bee pin featured in your previous post. Bees are so cute -- though the buzzing does give me the heebie-jeebies in real life!

  25. THANK YOU ladies for all of your sweet comments!!!

Andriea - Crazy! We were there for a late lunch, so I think we missed each other. I just left a comment on your blog with a couple of my favorite shops. Email me if you want more info!

Katie - I'm much the opposite. Once it actually gets warm/hot, I will probably be complaining about it!

Leanna - Thanks for stopping by:)

AppGal - I know what you mean. I have been on quite the polka dot kick myself. It all started when Everybody Everywhere featured polka dots and I realized I didn't really have many options. It got me thinking and craving some dots! The cannoli was fabulous:)

Molly - It is a cannoli! Soooooo yummy!

Laura - Yes, I do have a tattoo on my foot! It is a paw print that belongs to my sweet dog, Kya. I am planning a post to share more about my tattoos soon. It was quite painful, so I can definitely empathize with you. Thanks so much for you thoughtful comment:) Yes, I really am a sweet/gentle person, even if my fierce posing (haha) has you thinking otherwise! I am very passionate about bees, as you can tell.

Jamie - I can't wait to see your red dress!

Gabby - The treat was delicious! As I've mentioned, I always save room for dessert:)

Sweet Laundry - Yes, keep looking! You will find it. Thank you:) I am planning to post more about my tattoos soon.

  27. Hi Kristin, thanks so much for leaving me a sweet, supportive comment the other day! I really appreciate it. It's great to know there's nice people out there and not just haters :o)

I love this dress, by the way. I'm having some serious dress envy right now.

  28. Love the dress, the shoes, AND the canolli (sp?). Mostly, I love the peek at your fabulous upper arm work. Would love to see more of that. :)

  29. What a great vintage find! And now, obviously, I want dessert! :)

  30. dang- my blogroll is missing some updates! This is lovely- the mix of polka dots is great, and the dress is a great classic shape.

Heh, I laughed at the shoulders bit- I carry needle and thread in my purse for the inevitable vintage 'meltdowns'! I once almost lost an entire sleeve while at an event...

  31. This is just a classic, beautiful look. I love the small dots on the dress and the flare of the skirt. And that bracelet! I couldn't take my eyes of it! until I reached the canoli pic, that is. He just demanded I stare back.

  32. First, I love your shoes. A ton. I am on the fence about whether I want to add a pair like that to my wardrobe, but seeing you rock them has definitely gone in their favor!

The dress, too, is nice. I love a good polka dot pattern, though, so that does not really make me impartial, now, does it? Then what d'you do? Torture me with delicious-looking food? Ahh!

  33. It has definitely been really really nice this past week :) Though it's sort of silly, since everyone breaks out the skirts and sandals when it's only in the fifties. love the dress :) And your glasses. Reminds me of how I've been wanting new ones...

  34. What a beautiful, amazing, cool dress! I love how the dot pattern isn't uniform, which really makes this dress so special, in my opinion. You look fantastic!

  35. Thanks ladies!!!

Katrina - check my newest post:)

Sarah - That is a good idea! I do have a tiny little sewing kit. I should definitely add it to my bag just in case!

Lea - I want new glasses too (I still want to keep these, but I need a back up pair + sunglasses). I went to Reynolds yesterday - they have amazing frames, but they are also quite expensive.
