Purple

I spent the first part of my day touring the Audobon society grounds with my "little sister" (through Big Brothers/Big Sisters). We saw lots of wildlife and had a great time:) We got to see 2 different owls that stay there (they aren't able to be released back into the wild for various reasons). They were gorgeous! I think it's so neat (and a little scary) that they can turn their head 3/4 of the way around.

Tonight, Ben and I went out to dinner with friends and then we went out to a movie. Dinner at Ken's Artisan Pizza was delicious and of course the company was wonderful!

Here's what I wore:

This ring is one of the pieces I picked up from Botanical Bird last weekend at the street fair. I love it and I think the white color is perfect for summer.

Dress: Anthropologie Verdant Slip Dress
Cardigan: J. Crew Jackie
Tights: Hue
Shoes: Seychelles
Ring: Botanical Bird

  1. I love owls but have only ever seen them at the zoo behind a cage. I didn't know they could turn their heads like that...thats surreal! These are lovely pictures of you in your verdant slip dress. I want your shoes!

  2. Ooh, beautiful. I love the purple tights with this dress. You have such a wonderful knack for choosing tights that pull out the subtle components of the main piece.

  6. I used to joke with my husband that I wanted a pigmy owl (they're the tiniest owls!) because I convinced him to get our cat. I can't believe you're wearing tights already! Love them with the dress!

  9. That outfit is perfection!!! I have been trying to resist that dress, but I may have to try and snag it. The purple tights and lavendar cardigan just makes it pop.

  16. Vintageglammz - Thank you! The shoes are great, I love seychelles! I think it is a pretty common myth that owls can turn their head all the way around, it sure looks like they can (even though it's only 3/4 of the way). It is very surreal.

JG - Thank you so much:)

J'aime - Thank you! I wore this outfit after I purchased the dress weeks ago and loved it so much, I had to wear it again.

Sarah - Thank you, thank you! Lavender is one of my favorite colors so I pair it with almost everything:)

    Carly - Thank you!

Jenn - Yes, I pretty much wear tights year around. There are usually a few weeks here in Portland that are too hot for tights, but otherwise I go for it. Saturday was cool, cloudy, and rainy - maybe not actually cool enough for the tights, but I got away with it:)

Tasty Moog - I'm sure! I don't think I could stand that kind of heat. I definitely prefer the cool/wet weather:)

Caffeinerd - Thanks:) I have volunteered with BBBS for almost 3 years now and I LOVE it! It is a wonderful organization to be involved with.

Rachel - Thanks! I adore this dress and don't regret the full price purchase. I love the new blue colorway too.

Molly - Thank you! The tights were really not necessary, but it was just cool enough that I could get away with it.

    Emma - Thanks:)

Lisa - Thank you! Yes, owls are much cuter, but it is still a little scary when they do that. Definitely freaked me out a bit.

Kelly - Thank you! It is a great dress.

Sil - I love hanging out with my "little sister"! BBBS is a great organization.

Loraine - Thanks! How cool that you get to hear them at night!

  17. Gorgeous outfit. I really love the different shades of purple you've used... and that dress? stunning.
I'm s a LOT envious that you can still wear tights and a cardi in OR. I would probably kill myself if I wore those here in IL. But oh I so want to (wear them, I mean!) :)

  20. Laura - Thank you! I know, it's hard to believe I'm still wearing tights/cardigans right now, hearing about the crazy heat waves on the east cost/elsewhere. Thank you Oregon!!! I think things are changing this weekend though, I've heard it's going to be hot and sunny.

Sweet Laundry - Thanks:) You should go for it! I had pizza again tonight.

    Dee - Thank you!
