This cold is kicking my butt. I was worn out after work on Friday and I couldn't really do anything but lay on the couch, sipping tea all day yesterday. Ughhhhhhh. Thankfully, I woke up feeling a little bit better today. I really needed to get up and get out of the house, so we went downtown for the afternoon. I stopped by J. Crew, then Ben and I went out to lunch.
After seeing the Daisy Lace Tee on Sarah (here), I really wanted to check it out. It's sold out online, but my store still had quite a few in stock in the sale section. I planned on getting the pink version, but once I tried on the green, I changed my mind.
I also picked up yet another Jackie cardigan! This beautiful purple color was hanging out in the sale section:)
We went out to a new sushi place for lunch. The miso soup was soothing and the food was delicious. It was nice to get out of the house, but now I feel like a nap is in order:)
ps - There used to be a restaurant close to my office called, "Miso Happy". I loved their food, but I loved their name even more. How could you not go into a restaurant called Miso Happy?

Blahhhhhhh
So, that cold that Ben had last weekend? Yep, I caught it. I feel so crappy. I did not sleep well at all last night, and I had an extremely busy day at work, so now I'm totally exhausted. Okay, whine over. I'm planning on lots of tea and tv tonight and hopefully a good nights rest.
Although the days are getting longer here in Portland (it gets dark at 4:30pm during dec/jan), I still can't seem to catch any daylight for OOTD shots by the time I get home from work. My commute is getting less and less dark, so I know it will happen soon. In the meantime, please excuse the weird bathroom shots. Our bathroom has a bright light that isn't too yellow, so that was the best I could do for outfit shots. This also gives you get a little peek at our new bathroom floor!

Lazy weekend
I have enjoyed a super lazy weekend. Yesterday, Ben and I lounged around in the soaking pool at Kennedy School, then went out for drinks and dinner. Today, Ben has been feeling a bit under the weather (he has a mild cold, but to hear him tell it, he is extremely sick with the flu), so aside from yoga class and a trip to the grocery store, I have been hanging out at home today. It has been nice to have a couple of low-key days.
Here are a few pictures from the last week or two that put a smile on my face:

These tights were a Christmas gift from my sister-in-law. Aren't they great?

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I wanted to wear something a little bit romantic today. I don't own much red/pink, but I thought this skirt would be perfect. Ben and I are having a quiet evening at home tonight, consuming lots of wine and chocolate.
Please excuse the not-quite-finished paint job:)

Hot Springs
Hi guys! It's been awhile. Hope you all are doing well:) This past week was much better than the week before. Thanks for you sweet comments on my last post. Although work was still a little hectic, everything seems to have settled down for the most part.
We went on a beautiful hike yesterday up to Bagby hot springs. It's about an hour and a half outside of Portland. Once you park, you have to hike in about 1.5 miles to get to the springs. The hike is gorgeous. It follows the Collawash river the whole way. Although there were quite a few snowy/icy patches along the way, the hike was very easy. I really enjoyed the hike more than the hot springs. Here are a few pictures:

The river - so beautiful and grounding
There were lots of little waterfalls like this along the way
There are 3 bathhouses at the springs. The main bathhouse has "private" rooms with these ceder tubs. The other bathhouses have bigger community tubs. The water from the springs flows directly out of the ground through a series of wooden pipes into each tub. The water is so hot you have to carry buckets of water in from the river to add to the tub to make it bearable. It was a fun experience, but honestly, it grossed me out a little bit. I am kind of weird about public places like this (pools/hot tubs/etc.). I just feel like they are icky. Like I said, I enjoyed the hike much more than the hot springs. I'm glad I tried it, but I doubt I will be going back any time soon:)

It's all about the shoes
I am so happy that the weekend is here! It has been a long week. I started the day on Tuesday by finding lots of fraudulent charges posted to my bank account. Someone spent large sums of my money at different gas stations in Texas. Of course, my bank refunded the money and is taking care of everything. It's just a pain in the ass to call customer service, close my account, wait for a new debit card, etc. My day pretty much went downhill from there. Work was terrible and I was in tears by the time I got home. Luckily, I had to take an all-day CPR class on Wednesday, so I got a much needed break from the office. Things have blown over a bit and I'm looking forward to a (hopefully) better/easier/not-so-shitty week next week:)
This is the coat that Ben got me for Christmas. It's from a local clothing company called Nau. It is extremely light weight and so, so warm. Love it!
I'm on a roll with wearing my favorites from last year. The Bianca blouse goes with just about everything and I love the ruffles around the collar/sleeves.
There is nothing like a new pair of shoes to help you get over a tough week! These are the Camper 21514 Mary Jane Pumps. I found them on amazon for a steal (original price $180, down to $81.50 plus I had a gift card. Here they are). Ben actually introduced me to Campers when we first met, almost 9 years ago. He showed up to my apartment looking oh so European and cool with his camper shoes on:)
